ARRIVAL AT BUDAPEST
Arrive at Budapest International Airport. A warm welcome by IBMT Tours representative Transfer to the hotel. 2:00 p.m. Meet your tour educator and other group members in the hotel lobby. From Pest to Buda, drive through the city, cross the river and ascend Castle Hill – where among other historical sites, stands the first royal castle of the city. Enjoy the panoramic views of Budapest from the top of the Fisherman’s Bastion, which commemorates the Fishermen who were guarding the city. Visit the Medieval Synagogue, one of the oldest synagogues in the area of Budapest. Return to the hotel. Welcome dinner and orientation with your tour guide. Evening family walk in the center of Budapest. Overnight: Budapest
JEWISH LIFE IN BUDAPEST
Breakfast at the hotel. Explore the story of Jewish Budapest over the past 150 years, including visits to: The largest synagogue in Europe, the Dohany Street Synagogue. Built in 1859, the synagogue holds 3,000 seats and is home to one of the Neolog communities of Budapest.The Jewish Museum, which is housed on the site of Theodor Herzl’s family home. This museum holds a unique collection of Jewish artifacts, art and memorabilia, which shed a new light on the rich Jewish life and predominant Jewish community of Hungary, its influence on Hungarian society and its long-lasting memory. The complex courtyard, where the Community Holocaust Memorial stands. This impressive monument commemorates over 500,000 Hungarian Jews who perished in the Holocaust. Lunch on own at the Budapest Market, with free time to purchase local spices and delicacies. Stop at the Shoes on the Danube Promenade, a memorial created by Gyula Pauer and Can Togay on the Pest side of the Danube, honoring the Jews shot by fascist Arrow Cross militants during World War II. The memorial represents the shoes left on the river bank as the victims fell into the water. Return to the hotel. Enjoy the spectacular views and lights of the city on a special dinner cruise on the Danube. Overnight: Budapest
THE FOLKLORE OF BUDAPEST
Breakfast at the hotel. Guided visit through downtown Budapest, including Heroes’ Square and the sprawling Andrassy Boulevard of Budapest. Take a drive to the picturesque artists' village of Szentendre, where you'll have a chance to wander through the different shops and coffee houses and visit the world’s smallest synagogue. After lunch (on own), learn how to make marzipan in a hands-on workshop. Return to Budapest. Free time at leisure to explore the sites and scenes of Budapest on your own, with the opportunity to: Stroll along the fashionable Vaci Utca (Vaci Street), enjoy people watching and feel the vibe with its many local boutiques, shops and cafes. Enjoy a romantic walk in Margaret Island, an island in the middle of the Danube, overlooking the center of the city. Stroll along the medieval ruins, through a small zoo, a magical musical fountain, a water tower, pools and a water park, with the local residents. During the summer days, you can enjoy a show in the open air theater and cinema. Visit Budapest’s urban City Park (Varosliget). Walk on the grounds of the Vajdahunyad Castle, the 120-year-old castle showcasing the architectural evolution through centuries and styles in Hungary. Stroll through the City Park Lake, which is great for rowing in summer and ice skating in winter, and spend some entertaining time in the Budapest Circus or the 100-year-old Municipal Zoo. Visit the Széchenyi Bathhouse or Gellert Bathhouse, known for their healing waters. Inside and on the grounds of these beautiful palace compounds, you can enjoy various styles of indoor and outdoor medicinal and natural pools. Dinner on your own and evening at leisure. THE AUSTRIAN EMPIRE
Breakfast at the hotel.Check out of the hotel, depart Budapest and drive to Vienna. Take a panoramic orientation tour along the Ringstrasse, the main avenue circling the city center, for a view of the city's main landmarks, including: The ancient Hofburg Palace. This grand complex of a Capella and castles was once the seat of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Prater Amusement Park. This 120-year-old park contains old and new attractions for all ages. The impressive architecture of the UN Buildings, which are the 3rd built after New York and Geneva. St. Peter's Cathedral, the oldest church in Vienna.View St. Stephen's Cathedral (also known as Stephansdom), one of the city's most iconic symbols, located in the city's geographic center.
Lunch on own.Visit the Jewish Museum of Vienna in Palai Eskeles to see remnants of the oldest synagogue in Vienna. Stop at the Memorial to Austrian Holocaust Victims. Learn about its unique story of its excavations and the miraculous findings of the ancient synagogue of Vienna. Stroll through the Judenplatz, the main square of the Jewish community for nearly 500 years. Visit the second part of the Jewish Museum, located at the Judenplatz, which offers a modern presentation of the history of Viennese Jewry, including artifacts dating from the Middle Ages, a 38,000 book archive, and rotating exhibitions.Visit the Vienna Temple (Stadtempel), the only surviving synagogue from pre-WWII days. This nearly 200-year-old building has restored its extravagant design and is still an active synagogue and community center. Check into the hotel. Dinner with a chance to try the famous wiener schnitzel. Overnight: Vienna
FROM THE DANUBE TO THE VLTAVA
Breakfast at the hotel. Check out of the hotel, depart Vienna and drive to the Czech Republic. Visit Cesky Krumlov, a fairytale town with a maze of narrow cobbled streets; it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992. Explore the town and view its Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance houses. Lunch on own, en route. Walk along the Lipno Treetop Walkway and enjoy the surrounding landscapes above the trees. Finish the walking path at the observation tower and get the adrenaline rushing with a toboggan ride back down to ground-level. Continue to Prague and check into the hotel. Optional Kabbalat Shabbat services at a local synagogue. Shabbat dinner at a restaurant. Overnight: Prague
THE GRANDEUR OF PRAGUE | walking tour
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the Prague Castle for a guided tour of the Castle and an overview of the City of 100 Spires, a walk along the Golden Lane and a visit to the Toy Museum. Walk through the Lesser Town and over the Charles Bridge. Continue on a walking tour though the Old Town of Prague, concluding at the Astronomical Clock. Lunch on own, en route. Afternoon at leisure where you can do some walking on your own and return to the hotel. Dinner at a Czech pub. Attend a performance of Prague’s famous “Black Light Theatre,” bringing mime, music and movement to life. Overnight: Prague
THE GLORY OF JEWISH PRAGUE | walking tour

Guided visit through Jewish Prague, including the Old Ghetto and the Precious Legacy Exhibit at the Jewish Museum, which encompasses the Altneu Shul, the Maisel Synagogue, the Pincus Synagogue, the Old Cemetery and the Spanish Synagogue. Lunch on own, en route. Afternoon at leisure to explore Prague on your own, with the opportunity to: Bike along the river. Take the funicular up to Pettín Hill for great views of the city from Petrín Tower and a stroll through the Rose Garden. CELEBRATING MILESTONES (BAR - BAT MITZVAH DAY)
Breakfast at the hotel. Bar/Bat Mitzvah Service in the impressive Jubilee Synagogue (also known as the Jerusalem Synagogue). Celebratory lunch at a restaurant. Visit the Prague Zoo, open since 1931 and home to about 4,400 animals representing more than 690 species from all around the world. Enter the world of Prague legends at the Ghosts and Legends Museum and meet ghosts and phantoms of old Prague face to face! Experience the mysterious underground street of ghosts, which is built at the level of former medieval streets, giving the atmosphere of midnight in Prague years ago. Festive farewell dinner at a restaurant. Overnight: Prague
